What Are The Signs of A Cavity Developing?

Posted on 11/7/2022 by SRD Muscle Shoals
What Are The Signs of A Cavity Developing?A tooth cavity is a serious dental issue that can affect men and women of all ages, including young, middle-aged, and elderly people. There are innumerable instances where patients claim to have had tooth decay at least once. It is the most prevalent issue with children's dental health. Many believe it is because they consume too many sugary foods, such as cakes, candies, and chocolates. They are not mistaken. This plays a significant role in the early stages of forming a cavity.

How Does A Tooth Cavity Start?

A person is most likely developing a cavity whenever he/she notices a darkening area on the outside hard surface of a tooth. Cavities are also referred to as tooth decay. They are very small, damaged openings on the outside of the tooth that leads to the inside and cause increased sensitivity as well as general tooth deterioration. These cavities typically appear after a period of constant nibbling, consuming a lot of carbohydrates, and consuming soda and other sweet drinks. These foods are broken down by bacteria to create acids, which corrode the teeth and cause cavities.

What Are the Signs and Symptoms of Tooth Cavity?

The signs of a cavity include pain such as a toothache and pressure that makes the pain worse when biting and chewing. The pressure also causes extreme sensitivity when drinking something hot or cold. The tooth with the cavity typically has pits and dimmer patches. The pits demonstrate where the tooth dips below the normal surface. When cavities are severe enough, the entire tooth may need to be extracted. It is also uncomfortable for patients and challenging to live with a tooth cavity.
